The severe climatic conditions allow the Garden to be visited only for a short period: it is open to the public from June 15th to September 15th, every day, including public holidays, from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm; entrance is free of fee.
The Gardens include a herbarium, a museum and a specialistic botanical library. The Garden organizes seminars for students, meetings, courses, and conferences on biodiversity themes, with particular regard to the high altitude flora, vegetation and fauna.
As part of its specific functions, the Garden promotes scientific research, with particular reference to the high altitude species and vegetal communities. The research activities also involve applied studies in micropropagation, with the aim of propagating rare plants and plants under threat of extinction, like Artemisia umbelliformis subsp. eriantha, Leontopodium nivale, Androsace mathildae, etc. These activities include participation at congresses and meetings that are dedicated in particular to the ex-situ conservation of vegetal species. Moreover, the Garden provides technical and scientific support for the publication of studies along these lines.
